Rebuild/reinstall a VM
Rebuilding (reinstalling) a OneCloud VM redeploys the operating system from an image. This is useful if you want a fresh OS installation or need to recover from a misconfiguration.
Warning
Rebuilding a VM typically erases all data on the VM’s disk. Back up important files before proceeding.
When to use rebuild/reinstall
- You want to change the OS image
- The system is corrupted and cannot be repaired easily
- You want a clean start
How to rebuild a VM
- Log in to the OneProvider Client Area.
- Open OneCloud and select your project.
- Open the VM/instance details page.
- Click Rebuild, Reinstall, or Reimage (label may vary).
- Select the desired OS image.
- Confirm the rebuild action.
Provisioning will begin and the VM will restart with the new installation.
After rebuild
- Retrieve new access credentials (if applicable).
- Reapply security hardening and firewall rules.
- Restore your data from backups.
Important
IP address assignment may change depending on platform behavior and configuration. Always confirm the VM’s current IP after rebuild.
