Console access

Console access

Console access provides a direct view of your VM’s screen/terminal and can help when SSH/RDP is not working (for example, due to firewall rules, network misconfiguration, or boot issues).

When to use console access

  • SSH/RDP is blocked by firewall rules
  • The VM is booting but not reachable over the network
  • You need to troubleshoot network settings
  • You need to view boot errors

How to open the console

  1. Log in to the OneProvider Client Area.
  2. Open OneCloud and select your project.
  3. Click the VM/instance to open its details.
  4. Click Console / Open console (label may vary).

A console window will open in your browser.

Tips for using the console

  • Linux: log in with your usual username/password (or follow on-screen prompts)
  • Windows: console access may show boot status; for administration you will typically use RDP once networking is working
  • If the console is blank, wait a moment and try sending a key input (some consoles require a click to focus)

Important

Console access is powerful. Anyone with access to your Client Area and the VM console can potentially control the server. Protect your account with a strong password and 2FA (if available).
